A Visionary Encounter: How Engr. Dr. Umar Buba Bindir Discovered and Supported ENGAUSA On January 25, 2020, fate orchestrated an inspiring moment when Engr. Dr. Umar Buba Bindir, the Former Secretary to the Adamawa State Government (SSG), visited ENGAUSA Global Tech Hub. Coincidentally, I was invited to Freedom Radio 99.5 Kano for a discussion on modern technology and economic empowerment. Without hesitation, I sought permission to bring Dr. Bindir along. That moment became a turning point both for the ENGAUSA community and for the young minds eager to learn and grow.
Fast forward to March 4, 2025, the World Engineering Day, I find myself reflecting on Dr. Bindir’s unwavering passion for education, skills development, and innovation. His words on that day were not just a speech; they were a call to action a challenge for young people to seize opportunities, work hard, and shape their futures.
The Journey That Led Him to ENGAUSA
Dr. Bindir’s first encounter with ENGAUSA was purely accidental, yet divinely guided. While working in Abuja, he came across an article in a newspaper about Engr. Mustapha Ringim and a new TVET movement called ENGAUSA. The concept of blending English and Hausa immediately captured his attention.
“What is Engausa?” he wondered. With growing curiosity, he booked a flight to Kano a city he typically avoided due to its bustling nature. Upon arrival, he persistently asked for directions until he finally located ENGAUSA Hub.
To his surprise, it was just a small space with about five students. he walked in and greeted them with the founder, Engr. Mustapha Ringim, ! But little did they know, this meeting would mark the beginning of something transformative.
Lessons from His Speech: Hard Work & Determination
Speaking passionately to the young learners at ENGAUSA, Dr. Bindir reminded them that success is not given, it is earned.
Dr. Bindir said, “I swear by Allah, everything happens by His will. However, without effort, success remains out of reach.”
Sharing his personal journey, he revealed that he once lived as part of a herders’ group, facing numerous challenges. However, through hard work, perseverance, and dedication, he was able to transform his life and become the person he is today.
“If not for Allah’s mercy, I would never have had the opportunity to go to school. But today, you are fortunate you have access to education, skills training, and a promising future ahead. Make the most of these opportunities.”
His words ignited a fire of motivation and determination in the minds of the ENGAUSA students.
“We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Kabiru Umar, the Manager of the Technology Incubation Center (TIC) in Kano, and Salihi Iliyasu, the Head of Admin at TIC. Their support has been invaluable, and they also took the time to deliver insightful speeches during the event. In addition, they made an inspiring call to action for the youth, echoing the words of Dr. Bindir, who emphasized the importance of youth involvement in shaping the future.”
We are truly grateful for their dedication and leadership in encouraging innovation and growth in the community.

The ENGAUSA initiative started with a small idea, but today, it has grown into a hub of innovation and learning. Dr. Bindir envisioned its potential to expand beyond just ENGAUSA perhaps into Engfula, Engkanuri, or something even greater. The truth is, only Allah knows how far this will go, but it has started and that is what matters!
