This vision came alive at the ENGAUSA Global Tech Hub Graduation and Mentorship Ceremony, a landmark event that celebrated skill acquisition, innovation, and the power of mentorship.
ENGAUSA Hub recently held its highly anticipated graduation ceremony for 326 apprentices and trainees of the second quarter of 2024. Fully funded by the ENGAUSA Skills Development Foundation (ESDF), the event was held under the theme:
The ceremony was not just a graduation, it was a powerful statement about the role of skills, mentorship, and innovation in building a sustainable future for Nigerian youth.
The Founder of ENGAUSA Global Tech Hub, Engr. Mustapha Habu Ringim, delivered a compelling keynote address, emphasizing why skills and entrepreneurship are no longer optional but essential for today’s youth. He encouraged graduates to embrace determination, enthusiasm, and resilience, reminding them that real growth comes from consistent practice and lifelong learning.
Over the past six years, ENGAUSA Hub has successfully trained and empowered over 9,000 youths, a figure that does not yet include thousands more trained in 2025. Plans are already underway for a grand graduation ceremony later this year, bringing together stakeholders from across sectors.
The event attracted key stakeholders from government, industry, and the community. The Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Baba Tata Azare, Manager of the Technology Incubation Center (TIC) Kano, graced the ceremony, reinforcing TIC’s role as a leading driver of innovation and enterprise development in Kano State.
Representing the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE/NBTI), Hajiya Fatima Mahamud spoke on the board’s role in strengthening vocational and technical skills across Nigeria, particularly through nationally recognized frameworks.
Similarly, the Kano State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (KASITDA), represented by Engr. Naja’atu Kabir on behalf of Dr. Bashir Abdul Muzakkari, highlighted government support for youth participation in digital technology and modern entrepreneurship.
The highlight of the ceremony was the keynote lecture delivered by Professor Ahmad Tijjani Abdullahi (A. T. Abdullahi), Chairman of the Expert Advisory Committee at TIC Kano. He spoke extensively on the importance of digital and technical skills and how innovation hubs like ENGAUSA are vital to building a resilient and sustainable economy.
Professor Abdullahi’s wealth of experience and dedication to youth development were acknowledged as a major asset to ENGAUSA Hub’s growing impact.
A key focus of the event was the introduction and presentation of the National Skills Qualification (NSQ) certificate. Many skilled artisans and technologists across Nigeria face challenges due to the lack of formal recognition of their expertise.
This gap was addressed through a detailed session led by Engr. Aminu Danhassan, a certified skills assessor, who explained:
- What NSQ is
- Why it is critical for career growth
- The local and international opportunities it opens for skilled professionals
Engr. Mustapha emphasized that this initiative marks a turning point skilled individuals can now gain official recognition and credibility for what they truly know and can do.
Graduates and trainees also showcased innovative projects developed at the ENGAUSA FabLab, including:
- Smart Home models
- Access control systems
- Power banks
- Rechargeable lamps
These innovations demonstrated the practical, hands-on nature of ENGAUSA’s training where learning moves beyond theory into real-world solutions.
A special segment celebrated children who completed ENGAUSA’s “Catch Them Young” holiday training program. Parents shared heartfelt testimonials about the impact of early exposure to digital skills.
The graduation and mentorship ceremony was more than an event; it was a celebration of skills, inclusion, innovation, and hope.
