Abubakar’s Leap of Faith: The Engausa Journey That Changed Everything

In today’s episode of the Engausa Podcast, host Engr. Mustapha Habu Ringim interviewed one of Engausa’s pioneer students, Abubakar Musa, whose story is a true testament to curiosity, sacrifice, and transformation.

Before joining Engausa Global Tech Hub, Abubakar worked as an electrician, handling basic wiring jobs. But deep down, he always felt the urge to do more. He often asked himself, “How can I improve upon and expand my skills?” That question ignited his search for knowledge.

His quest led him to explore various training centres on social media, but he soon realized that most of these institutions were located outside Northern Nigeria, far beyond his reach. Then, in 2018, fate stepped in. While tuning in to a radio programme, Abubakar heard Engr. Mustapha Habu Ringim, CEO of Chosen One Global Technologies Ltd and Engausa Global Tech Hub, speak passionately about skill acquisition and debunk myths around learning technical and installation skills.

That moment struck a deep chord in him. Determined to join the training, Abubakar made a bold move: he sold his phone just to afford the registration fee. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions of his life.

At Engausa, he was trained in solar, CCTV, and computer networking installation, as well as other related building installations. Initially, he believed that only those with engineering degrees could excel in such fields. However, that belief was shattered when he discovered that many of his classmates, including Almajiris, school dropouts, and out-of-school children with little or no formal education, were excelling remarkably. Engausa’s mother-tongue-based teaching approach made complex concepts simple and practical.

After completing his training, Abubakar was selected for an apprenticeship and mentorship directly under Engr. Ringim’s supervision.

The hands-on field experience he gained from that mentorship gave him the confidence and competence to start his own company, SD Global Tech Ltd, a solar and CCTV installation firm now serving clients across multiple communities.

Today, Abubakar’s business is flourishing. What started as a one-man venture has grown into a small enterprise employing six dedicated staff members. Through his steady income, he now supports his parents and siblings, ensuring their comfort and stability. His success has not only transformed his personal life but also inspired others in his community to believe that self-reliance and prosperity can begin with skills, not certificates.
