Buhari Shuaibu hails from Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State. His early education was shaped by discipline, having attended boarding schools for both primary and secondary education in Sokoto and Jega. These formative years instilled independence and resilience qualities that would later define his entrepreneurial path.
Driven by a passion for community well‑being, Buhari pursued higher education in health sciences. He obtained a Diploma in Public Health from Emirates College, Kano, and later earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Public Health from Kwara State. While this academic background gave him a strong foundation, Buhari soon realized that formal education alone was not enough to unlock his full potential in today’s fast‑changing, technology‑driven world.
In 2021, Buhari took a decisive step that changed the direction of his life. Alongside two friends Idris Abubakar and Najibullahi he joined Engausa Hub, a youth‑focused innovation and skills development center committed to empowering young people through practical, hands‑on training.
At Engausa Hub, Buhari immersed himself in several digital fields, including digital literacy, graphic design, video editing and blogging, web design, and photography. What made the experience unique was not just the variety of skills, but the practical teaching approach and supportive learning environment. Engausa Hub didn’t just teach theory; it prepared its students to solve real‑world problems.
For Buhari, this was the turning point. The Hub helped him see technology not merely as a learning tool, but as a powerful driver of business growth and self‑reliance.
Before acquiring digital design skills, Buhari was already involved in marketing traditional clothing within Kwari Market, Kano one of the largest textile and garment markets in West Africa. Kwari Market became the bridge between his new digital knowledge and real business application, allowing him to test, refine, and scale what he had learned at Engausa Hub.
However, his business initially lacked professional branding and strong visual appeal. Everything changed once he began applying his digital skills.
Through graphic design, Buhari started creating high‑quality promotional flyers for textiles sold at Nabasa, their shop located along Unity Road with strong trading links to Kwari Market. These professionally designed visuals elevated the brand’s image, increased customer trust, and attracted more buyers within and beyond the market.
By leveraging WhatsApp and other social media platforms, Buhari expanded sales beyond the traditional market space. What started in Kwari Market soon reached customers outside Nigeria, including Cyprus, India, and Malaysia demonstrating how digital skills can remove geographical barriers and turn a local market business into a global brand.
One of his most impactful innovations was in packaging. Buhari designed and produced custom‑branded packaging bags for his growing company, BBJ Textiles. This strategic move born from observing customer behavior in Kwari Market significantly boosted brand recognition, professionalism, and customer confidence. Today, Buhari proudly serves as the CEO of BBJ Textiles, a brand that reflects quality, creativity, and modern business practices.
Like many young entrepreneurs, Buhari faced challenges along the way. One of the earliest obstacles was the high cost of internet data, which made consistent online learning and digital marketing difficult. Despite this, he remained focused and persistent, understanding that growth often requires sacrifice.
Drawing from his experience, Buhari offers valuable advice to young people. He encourages them to stop using their phones solely for entertainment and instead embrace technology as a tool for learning and self‑development. He also strongly warns against substance abuse, emphasizing that it destroys focus, discipline, and future potential.
According to Buhari, success does not happen overnight. It requires patience, consistency, discipline, and continuous learning—values he credits Engausa Hub for reinforcing throughout his journey.
Buhari Shuaibu’s success story is just one of many emerging from Engausa Hub.
